Ongoing saga of the Mayo Clinic. pt 11

Sunday, January 27, 2008. Third trip to Mayo clinic.

I have been informed by several family and friends that I have not updated my carepage to let them know how my meds have been working. To list all my ailment is just redundant at this point so I will just say that I am not in any pain or discomfort. This can be nothing but good news. All in all I would say I am 50% better in the head. 90% better in the bursitis area. 25% better in the lung area. Side affects from the steroids are manageable. And my weight loss is now up to about 29 lbs.. After this trip I will probably gain a couple back. Ralph said after this trip he will start his diet too.

My old issues will be reevaluated and retested to see how much progress there has been. I am assuming a CT scan on the lungs will be a necessity. The noise in my head, migraines, and dizziness are associated with the anxiety. I do feel about 50% better except for the noise. I may have to live with it.

We have to be at the clinic at 6:50 am in the morning with our first appmt. Is at 7:15. We have to register at 7. We will pick up our schedule then and see what’s up. I have issues that were not addressed last time so we will check them out this time. Left thumb pain which really zings several times a day. Left rotator cuff which zings and burns and aches several times a day. My neck and right shoulder which has bugged me for half of my life but has been a lot worse in the last year. Neck muscles are tight and stiff and the right shoulder burns and itches and aches and just tightens till I have a tension headache. I think there is nerve involvement which is why it burns and I have some numbness. My right ankle which I did have them look at but they only suspected sarcoid and were going to see if the steroids would take care of it but, no. I have a consultation with a musculo-skelatal doctor. I hope he will have some answers.

We left this morning at 6. We drove for 2 hours and stopped for breakfast at no other than MCDONALDS! Ralph’s favorite place. Back on the road. Opps, spoke too fast. Potty break for Ralph only ½ hr later.

MMMM…Hardee’s! It’s been forever since we have had Hardee’s. We waited lunch till we spotted one. The third one on our trip. The other 2 we passed by mistake. This one is brand new as of November so I guess we were destined to stop there. It was worth the wait.

We have arrived at 3:30! We have a LAZYBOY! Awesome. Nice bright room with the morning sun coming in our window. I guess we just chill the rest of the day. I have to look up a search for “Our Lady of Guadalupe” shrine. It is only 10 miles off our beaten path. If timing is right we will hit up mass on the way home. Ralph is looking for the K of C here so he can go to the meeting.

I guess we are going to mass tonight at 6. Holy Spirit parish is about 10 miles round trip. They actually let us sing with the choir. Cool.
