Good morning everyone! I know I've been MIA for a few days. I'm doing fine, I've just been rather busy and haven't gotten to everything I want and need to do on this round of days off. I go back to work tomorrow at Noon.
On today's agenda for me:
Exercise
Do 2 loads of laundry
Prepare and print a copy of the September edition of my Sunday School class prayer calendar
Attend the Eat Well, Live Well nutrition and fitness class at First Baptist Church, Jackson this evening
Doesn't sound like much, but it will be time consuming.
Oh and by the way, I have transferred my prescriptions to Brookshire's (they have a few stores here in the Jackson Metro, they're based in Texas somewhere, some of you have surely heard of them) from Wal*Mart since I found that they have a better generic prescription drug plan and since they're only grocery store in this area that I've found carries the South Beach frozen dinner entrees. Wal*Mart doesn't carry them, neither does Kroger. Local grocery chain McDade's Markets doesn't have them. So, I've decided that since I want to buy the South Beach frozen dinner entrees, I will shop at Brookshire's. And I've realized that there's no sense in making a trip to Wal*Mart just to pick up my prescriptions when I can get them at Brookshire's with a better deal.
I take 4 prescriptions daily. Fortunately, 3 of them are on the generic plan at both Wal*Mart and Brookshire's. The other one is covered by my prescription drug insurance from work.
I'm fortunate - even though the State of Mississippi doesn't pay that well, they do pick up the tab for my medical and prescription drug insurance premium - as a single employee I pay zero towards it; coworkers who have some version of coverage for family members do pay a premium for that coverage.
Well the one prescription that I do use my insurance for - I'm waiting for the written prescription from my cardiologist's office - I spoke with his nurse on Monday and she said she put it in the mail that day. Theoretically, because it's in town, I should've received it yesterday, but with our sad excuse for a postal system around here, I didn't. I could've driven over to their office in about 20 minutes and picked it up in person - the mail system will make it take 2 or 3 days for me to get it! Anyway, I'm planning to switch this one prescription to mail order - via drugstore.com - when I finally get it. I will get a fill this time from Brookshire's, but by the time I need it refilled again, hopefully I will have the drugstore.com fill in.
Now for the update on Pat (my sister-in-law):
Pat will be having a double angiogram Thursday morning in Baton Rouge. The doctor is doing this in order to get a look at both sides of her heart. Then, once he has the results from the angiogram, he is planning to schedule aortic heart valve replacement surgery as soon as possible. He said that the aortic valve is clogged inside and on the outside is coated in calcium and that there is no medication that will treat and clear this up, valve replacement surgery is the only option.
I asked Bill a question put to me by one of our cousins. I didn't have the answer and was curious myself. The question is:
If Pat should elect not to have the surgery, what is her prognosis?
Bill said that he asked the doctor this question when he and Pat met with him last week to get the results of the echo and ultrasound. The answer he got was that without the surgery, the doctor would give her at the very most 5 years, but it would more likely be 1 to 2 years. Not good news for sure!
I'll be sure and update everyone when I get news from Bill about how the angiogram goes.
Please continue to keep Bill and Pat in your prayers. Thanks!!
