It's Friday Throw Down____ 10 Weeks and Counting

Wow, ten weeks have passed!!!! Do you believe it!!!!

Well enough of the exclamation marks. But isn't it great we have maintained this virtual living room of friends coming together to share our ups and downs as we become more healthy. And hopefully, losing a little more weight each week, improving our HDL'S, lowering our LDL's and triglycerides. What about all that diversity of exercise we have added to strengthen bodies and hearts. Tai Chi, aqua-size, Wii, walking, jogging, dancing, gardening, yoga, swimming, and let's not forget hiking the hills of Texas.

So there is two things I want to talk about...and one is about stress. The other is a good night's sleep. Studies prove that these both impact our weight. I'm gathering I am not the only stress eater here who gets sabotaged by stress. Two, stress can also impact our sleep or lack there of. Studies show that we should be getting at least seven to eight hours of good sleep. Less sleep can lead to weight gain, more plaque build-up and depression to name just a few bad consequences of inadequate sleep.

I heard on the news this week the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic both agreed with a recent study that found that the extra hour added because of Daylight Savings Time produced 5% less heart attacks the following few days. That extra hour of sleep reaped this statistic. Wow! The time change in the Spring leads to 5% more heart attacks. Isn't that interesting.

So Heart sisters how are you doing in the sleep department? And how are you managing your BAD stress?
Not that stress that challenges you and makes you feel alive; but that debilitating I can't function at the top of my game stress. I would love to know.

Here's a couple of nuggets from the internet, I'll leave you with..........
> you accept the fact that you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but not while you're wearing a bathing suit.

> have you ever noticed that "stressed" is "desserts" spelled backwards - hmmmmmm!

Love, Spuds
