Well here we are one week later and I am following Laura's organizational suggestions to get this baby up and running. Basically, I blurted out my feelings and Laura has created a plan of action taking into account all your responses. So here we go:
First your job
Post your start weight and the pounds, stones, kilograms each week. REALLY IMPORTANT!!! This is only if you want to make this public for hundreds to see, we all understand if you want to keep this private.....So just say private and reveal what is comfortable for you....maybe its just the pounds you lost this week.
Second...post a comment only if you wish
Example:
Spud's ....Start weight 193.6 This week 189.4
Weight loss - 4.2 woohoo! I love this peer pressure.
Now my job this week per Laura's request.
1) a diet tip.....I discovered this great site called:
Healthy Living <HealthyLiving@EverydayHealth.com>
This is a free on line diet and exercise journal.
What was very useful is My Calorie Counter...with a little effort you can plug in what you eat for the day and it will break it down into calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium, carbs, fiber, protein, sugar. You then can add your exercise and it will tell you how many calories you have burned. I don't do this everyday but I use it as a check in tool to keep an eye on what I am putting into my body and if I am on target. This site also does weight in kilograms for international participants.
2) an exercise tip
I have found my tired ankles are struggling with all the walking I've been doing...I am switching to non-weight bearing exercise that has cardio but is gentle to my joints.
For me, I will start water exercise next week...I let you know how it goes. If you have arthritis local Y's have a specific exercise program for you. Problem it's not free like walking but most Y's offer scholarships if you qualify.
3) a heart fact of why doing this is so important
For every pound we carry the heart must pump blood through twenty miles of veins, arteries, capillaries, etc.
How hard do we want our hearts to work?
4) something inspirational to keep us going?
Speaking personally......You guys!!! You have no idea what a BIG HELP this is to me. You are my answer to pray...being the pray-er that I am. God knows I've been struggling and he has used you to re-lite this flame of hope that was truly sputtering regarding my weight issues. I haven't felt this accountable in a long time and I love the ripple effect of this rant of mine that has been turned into a plan of action by Laura and touched so many of you out there. May we loving encourage and challenge each other to become more healthy.
5) Are you interested in sharing the responsibilities of posting the Friday Check-In? This will help in knowing who is ready and willing. I hope everyone is we can learn so much from everyone here.
Praying we sustain this...Love you MUCH, Ruth
