had my surgery 2 weekjs ago tomm any one else feeling sad every day.pain goes from take my breath away to bearable
The sadness is normal. From what Ive read most of us have been through that. I still go through it at times and I'm 3 months post cabgx2. Your doc can prescribe you something for that just ask. I take wellbutrin not only for the depression but for smoking as well. Do you take anything for the pain? If not get that doc to give you something...you're only 2 weeks post surgery and no need for you to suffer needlessly. It will get better just rest rest and rest some more. It takes time. God Bless
my dr has me on pain meds,i am trying to wean myself off of them.i know surgery was only 2 weeks ago.in spite of the overwhelming experience of this i would nt trade it for anything.my eyes have been openned.i do know god loves me
Lenny don't sound so down you have just been promoted to the third part of you experience, recovery for the next ? year or so. The reason I put a question mark there is that you should get better but don't push too hard, your body will push back.
Its nice that you found this group 'cause we will help you in many ways by sharing our experiences as they apply to you.
You can ask any question and not feel ashamed or embarrassed because at least one of us has probably run into it.
Good Luck with your recovery
i cry at the drop of a hat.you dont know me or should i say you didnt know.i never cried.macho me.crying actually now has become part of my recovery.i am so very blessed to have found this website.god bless all
Lenny I went through the same kind of things your going through. My 4 way bypass was a little over 2 yrs ago. Just think what you survived going through. There's not many other surgeries that are so brutal to your body. I couldn't believe how weak an just bad I felt when I woke up. You'll have up days and down days. Appreciate them all as best you can. Time passes fast.
ED
In a very real sense we died on the operating table, but were resuscitated back to life. Is it any wonder our world gets turned upside down from this surgery, beginning with the world in our head? Then our emotions get scrambled and served up by the plate load hot and mushy. With few exceptions, for the first 7-15 days post ICU, we are in constant pain and generally feel like sh.it. When a veteran CABG patient, with say 3 months post-op under his/her belt says "There will be good days and bad days" believe it -- that is the one common denominator all CABG patients seem to experience. But it gets better over time as a function of your particular physiology, attitude, willingness to accept and learn from your new mind-body and participate in its recovery.
That has been and continues to be my experience so far.
i hadnt thought of it quite like that.thanks for sharing and i will keep you in my prayers......lenny
As usual well said celeritas! And Lenny its better to cry out loud than to cry and keep it to yourself. The first time I had a good cry after my surgery I thought I surely had lost my mind. I was asked why are you crying and I had to honestly answer I dont know. But when I found Inspire....the sun came out and the rain stopped and I have been blessed ever since. When it comes to what we've all been through....macho doesnt mean a thing. We're all human....and as everyone says we've been through hell and back.....go ahead cry....you'll feel so much better. God Bless
hey guys, thanks for all your great input.today {wednesday} went hospital for post op bloodwork, ekg and chest x-ray.x-ray showed water in lungs.my surgeon was in the house and he saw x-ray and cathed 2/1/2 liters of fluid out.feeling a 1000% better tonite and thanks for all your prayers.

Hi lenny,
Glad that you're here. Hope you are feeling better. You need to be more patient with yourself and not expect miracles overnight. Try not to miss the forest for the trees. I know that everything I am saying right now seems empty, but it will make sense to you soon. Anways, don't forget that you have us here!! Hope to see you on here more in the future. :)
hey guys,i learn from all of you.its now been 3 weeks and 1 day since surgery and i am feeling better. god bless all of you.....lenny
It will get much better. I had quadruple bypass on August 17th. I had some fluid on the left lung as well and had it removed. I have fully recovered with no pain soreness or sadness. Recovery times will vary but it will get better. I feel great and you will also. It will take time.
Mike
thanks guys for all your replies.dont know what i would do without this website....lenny
Me too - cry at the drop of a hat - never used to cry much, was really hard, but the op has softened me and made me much more caring and understanding about other people's trials and troubles - i never used to care much, but now i do and again, cry all the time - it has got better though - i am now 8 months post op. however, i am glad the experience has made me a nicer person - it is made me feel mortal and humbled me - brought me down to earth if you like and therefore, understand other people's weakness.
hope you feel better soon. but just cry when you want to - get it all out.
thx tracey...you nailed it for me. i am so aware of others illnessnes and disabilities now i wouldnt change any of this.i still cry easily but thats getting better too.
