Traci, when you say wound vac do you mean a suction machine on your open wound that sucks 7/24. If that is what it is, I had one on for 5 full days and nights and I thought it was the biggest pain in the &$%% even though it help to save my life from a major infection.

I haven't been on a wound vac but I've been an insulin dependent diabetic for 33 years and had a triple bypass on June 19th 2009. Hopefully your testing yourself and having good glucose results. I'm sure that will help greatly in the healing process. Having Diabetes during any kind of surgery isn't easy but if you take care of yourself you'll do better. Keep us informed of your progess..

I too am insullin dependent as well as taking 1000 mg of metformin 2x daily. I was only on the suction for about 3/4 days. The docs are surprised that wounds have healed so nicely and so quickly. I had double bypass on July 15.
You will find quite a few beautiful people here at Inspire. They have helped me so much with answers to my questions and encouraging me when I was at a low point in my healing process. It helps to sit and "talk" to someone via the computer while you are healing. Anytime you have a question or just want to vent please dont hesitate to do it as it helps tremendously. And if you ever think you are alone in this process...come home to Inspire and get a big hug!
thanks to all who gave a reply its nice to not feel so alone with all that is happening right now.i will be here often to talk to people and hopefully help others feel better also.i will post my progress as i go also.thanks again, traci
