Next level of care and insurance coverage after surgery

0 Recommendations

Where are usually patients sent after spending a month in ICU, another 5 days inpt with no solution to complications post surgery especially a really bad infection? Nursing homes, rehab, hospice? Do doctors just give up or is it the insurance putting pressure to get pts. out even when they are unstable and fragile. I am a little desperate today and need some feedback and peace.

I've been out of town with my sick mom, just reading about your friend. I'm so sorry things have not gone well. it sounds like he has had one complication after another. I do know that some bypass patients go to rehab centers after surgery if they don't have family at home that can care for them or need skilled nursing care for an extended period of time. It's been almost a week since you write. I hope things are better. Love, Allie
