Insomnia 9 weeks out

0 Recommendations

I have suddenly developed severe insomnia 8 weeks after my 6 way bypass. I an unable to go to sleep until after 3:30 in the morning. I to an ambien tonight and it has done nothing. I am taking crestor and metroprolol at bedtime, niacin and fish oil at evening meal and a bunch of other pills in the morning. I saw the one post on metroprolol on depression but have had no issues with that. Has anybody else experienced this? If so how was it resolved.

Is the Ambien you are taking the regular Ambien or Ambien CR.? The Ambien CR is suppose to keep you sleeping through the night, the regular Ambien helps you get to sleep.

I had a problem about 4 weeks after surgery, where I couldn't sleep at night at all for about 7-10 days. Two or three half hour naps during the day was all I could do but it went away after I stopped taking Tylenol 3 and I have been ok since.

Hi,
I also have the trouble sleeping for a long time as well, but I do not take the Ambien I was giving because it does not help me; instead what I take is Xanax which helps me relax and eventually fall asleep.

Be well.

I too had a hard time getting to sleep for about a month and half after my cabg. I finally got my doctor to give me ambien and my sleep pattern has finally returned. Thats not to say I dont toss and turn trying to get comfortable, I do but it is becoming less and less each night. Hope yours returns soon God Bless

After 3 weeks of not being able to sleep, it is now looking better. I finally have had 2 consecutive nights where I have slept through then night (not counting bathroom breaks).

Thanks for your thoughts.
