collar bone problems

0 Recommendations

I experienced a rib separation problem, which lasted for about 8 weeks and is just now getting somewhat better, but I now can feel my right collar bone not being smooth (like my left side) and being painful when I move my shoulder is certain ways. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this. I will go to my local doctor in the next few days, but I was wondering if this, like my rib, just happens during some procedures. That's what I was told about my separated rib issue.

Surgery Pain

Oh yes. I have a similar problem with my shoulder. When I rotate my arm at the shoulder I hear and feel cracking sounds in the shoulder and chest. Somehow my chestbone has not healed aligned properly and I have a week shoulder which makes noises and cracking sounds. It does not hurt much though. I asked the doctor and they took xrays. There is nothing wrong with your shoulder I am being told. Yet I know there is something wrong and feel it. Next time I go to the doctor I will ask him again.

My surgeon has said the same thing......I hurt at the bottom of the sturnum then to your left at the ribs hey also hurt. A cross my coller bone hurts and my sturnum...but then the way our bodies were invaded and pulled about, being cut through muscle and nerves i suppose we would have the pains......I am told it can take up to and over a year for these pains to settle down......My friend had a bypast last year.....just over a year, still get pains in the sturnum and one of his drain holes.....He also takes painkillers for it......I think the more you move around get your muscles moving and your joints then hopefully you wont have this trouble for a long time after......I know when i have done some streaches i feel better after.....small ones...lol

yazz, Thanks for your response. I am going to go over this with my cardiologist as well, but not scheduled to see him until January, ergo the question. But I pretty much came to the conclusion you gave me. It's just going to take a long time. I get real tired of being a wimp, but if you push too hard, your reward is a set back. I've been there, so your advice is good. It just takes time. (The atrophy issue is a real bite as well!) thanks again for your response.

My collar bone on the right side sticks out further then the left side. It caused me to lose motion in my right arm and now I'm in P>T> for my shoulder and doing alot of stretching exercises. This is helping alot and gaining more motion in my right arm. The pain was limiting at the begining but now it's almost gone and I have about 75% movement back and working on getting the rest back. It'll take time and working out but it'll be worth it.

Marc

Marc: I assume the problem with your collar bone was a result of the surgery? My local physician told me the collar bone should not have been affected by the separation of my ribs?? But I, clearly, never had this problem prior to the procedure. If I stretch to get anything with any degree of weight I experience pain in my clavical area. Very annoying. I'm assuming its just going to take an extended time to heal.
