Hi everyone
it's been 8 weeks since my triple bypass.I had my share of ups and downs.
I must it admit I am feeling better eveyday .
my leg is still a swollen (It got infected and started bleeding on and off from the 2nd week up until about 10 days ago)
my biggest problem is my constant throat and chest clearing. It's not bad when I wake up but gets worse by the end of the day.
has anybody else experianced this ?

Welcome to our little group, Mr G !

Good to hear the news that your getting better. Hoping the leg problems are taken care of.

I had a problem with frequent coughs. It was bothersome but eventually its gone away. I am now 9 weeks post-op. It seemed to be a part of my chest healing and just getting stronger.

I'm just at the 4 week mark and my mornings and early afternoons are far better than my evenings. My biggest issue is the "popping" of my ribs/sternum. I too still hack a little and some minimal congestion. My Dr's have me taking Mucinex 12 hr tabs for relief. Seems to be working.

are you on lisinipril. I had the same prob. and found out thats what it was.

No I'm not ,is that cholestrol lowering meds?
Cardiologist thinks it alergies ,but I'm almost sure it's not. I have been taken zyrtex and mucinex and neither seems to help..

When I had it I was told it was from the tubes and other things they had down my throat and irritated it. It took about 2 1/2 months to feel better and stop the coughing. It happens once in awhile now, I'm 12 weeks post op x3, mostly when I get up in the morning. I would also think that the area in which you live may have an affect on it too. Hang in there this too shall pass.

Hi Mr G.
Yes, I "cleared" frequently my 1st 8-10 weeks. It only comes around about once/day now, about 6-mo's out. I've never been bothered by allergies. If you are I'd think that would be a definite situation you'd want to address.

Each person seems to handle this surgery in a slightly different manner, but one thing that I think all of us would agree on, and that is that it takes time to recover. I am about four and a half years post op x4 and I feel great. Six months after surgery I was wondering if I was ever going to feel anything like normal again. Welcome to the group!

2 Yrs out of my 4 way bypass and yes I know exactly what your talking about. I still have it although I don't really realize I am doing it until my co workers start kidding me about it. I don't know what it from, but if that was my only side effect from the surgery I would be happy. I feel good but am not mentally the person I was before.

Good luck ED

Thank you so much for the post. I am about 4 months out from CABG x4....thought I would be great at 3 months, but then was hoping for 6 months to be normal. I don't mind knowing it takes much longer....its just good to hear it ! I have daily upper back pain that shoots down the arms like on a nerve !
That's my main complaint right now.
