My friend has head and neck cancer

0 Recommendations

Our closest friends here in Texas, we moved here 5 years ago, we've known them for 4, the husband has just been diagnosed with head and neck cancer. They found it in a lump on his neck via a needle biopsy. They said it was in the lymph node but that it couldn't have started there? That they need to find a primary source. I sat with the wife Monday during his biopsy. They have a dr appt tomorrow to get the results. My college roommates husband has died from this, my husbands brother-in-law died from this, and my maid of honor's dad just had his tongue reconstructed out of a muscle from his leg. And now our best friend? How come so many people in our life have fought or are fighting this battle??

My husband was diagnosed with a tumor at the base of his skull (squamous cell). You can get that through the membranes of your mouth or nose. They did a PET scan and it is no where else in his body. The doctor did a biopsy of his lymph node on the left side of his neck - that's how they diagnosed what type of cancer it was.

The tumor has disappeared - he had chemo/radiation simultaneously.

I wish the doctors at the hospital my husband went to would have done a PET scan. NO ONE ever mentioned a PET scan to us. The only person that mentioned a PET scan was our fabulous family doctor. He said alot of times insurance companies and hospitals alike don't suggest or cover the cost to perform them. I really believe that the cause of.
It is 7 months to the day today that my husband Frank passed away. I am STILL ANGRY with the robber called cancer and the way it turned my life upside down, the doctors, the insurance company and some handful of people. The people that are closest to me are the ones that have been there for me and the ones I am angry with are so far out fortunately for me. I feel like I will never regain "normalcy" again. The first Holidays w/o my husband and all the fun we would have been having and would be having.

my husband also had a lump come up,and by this time it was stage 4.he has been thru h*ll,and is still going thru it for over a year.3 surgeries to the throat,3 rounds of chemo,3 rounds of radiation, and we are just now seeing a small amount of positive things from yet more chemo,it will be an on going thing for us they tell me,and its tough, but hes still here over a year later and i thank God for that

I wish someone had answers for us I never smoked nor do I drink and I was diagnosed with tongue cancer in 1991 the first time again in 2001 and again the summer of 2007. The last time was the worst the doctors recommended they remove my tongue and voice box which they did on 1/16/2008 I recovered and returned to work feeling great but with a whole new way to learn to communicate but I get by ok. Now a year later I developed pain in my neck and jaw bone and after a Pet scan once again the doctors have found a lump in my neck that is cancer, all my doctors said there is nothing they can do for me, do to all the surgeries I had and treatments. I met with a new Oncologist Last week and he wants to try a treatment called Urbatex on me to see if it will shrink the tumor and stop the pain and the bleeding it is causing threw my stoma. However there are risks if the tumor shrinks and is acting as a plug in the artery that is bleeding things can get worse but I still want to do it, I beat cancer before and I am not ready to give in YET!!!! I pray for all of us and I hope you will do the same for me.
Gob Bless you all Willpower Tom
