Why Bravelle and other IVF drugs are not TABLETS!!! I am so needle scared

0 Recommendations

Hiya,

I started my cycle last week have been on lupron for 10 days now and i was scared at first to do the shot myself but then it does not hurt at all the needle is so small. SoI managed to do them myself and calmed down.

But here WE ARE AGAIN..... I have to start bravelle tomorrow and they give me IM needle and subq needle and i have to say that both look outrageously big and long. Can not they find a way so we can can take tablets instead of injections!!!!!

The nurse is suppose to show me how to do it tomorrow but i already know that they prefer to have it done in the butt. But my DH is scare of needle too and we are very far away from home and nobodyelse can do them for me. So i was wandering if you can use the same needle as lupron and do it in the thight?? I am sure some of you are loughing after what i just said but i am really trying to find a way to avoid that big thing. Can you do bravell subq in thight or does it need to be IM????

Please reconfort me!!!!

I send you all a lot of baby dust.

Marie

Marie,
Yes, you are right the smaller needles do not hurt.
Just be strong and you will get through the IM shots. Tell your husband that you trust in him that he will do an awesome job. You can even ask the nurse to drawl two circles with permanent marker, so your husband knows right where to give the shot to you. That will take some of the pressure off of your husband. Also, I know with the PIO that was IM, I sat on a heating pad before and after my shot. During the day I iced it. This seemed to help for me.
Good Luck and you can do it,
April

First of all, I never did one shot my self. DH did all of them. Before he would do the shot, I would rub an ice cube over the spot to numb it. I didn't feel any of my shots except for the Menopur I was on. The med burned a little. Keep your eye on the prize....a little baby! Good luck.

Hey Marie,

You can do this! I did all the shots myself because my husband couldn't do it (our protocol called for abdominal injections of all meds). I found that if you pinch the area as you inject, it tends to take some of the pain out of it. The meds do sting a bit and I was a little bruised but like the others have said....a little bit of pain is worth a lifetime of happiness!

You and your husband will be pros before all is said and done!

I wish you luck.

(We have our FET in 12 days--who's counting :)

Hello...you have to give the IM in the butt so it's absorbed the right way..I give myself all my own shots..to be honest w/ you, I think the sub q shots hurt worse than the IM...looks are deceiving..I don't have any pain when I give myself IM shots...you need to stand in front of a mirror, and use that as a guide to inject yourself...you can do it !!! Good Luck...Lorie :)

Marie! You can totally do this! You are strong and brave! There is a decent youtube of a woman doing her IM shot for the first time. I like it because it shows her nerves and everything but she does a great job. After you are done you will feel like superwoman capable of anything. And remember that it only hurts for a moment and the outcome is for the long haul!!!! go girl!!! paige

Marie, I too was VERY scared of the needles...we have to do the IM injections for Repronex. For the first one I must have spent the whole day psyching myself up for it....the videos and Utube really helped to take some of the fear away for me. And when we finally did the first one i was VERY relieved that it did not hurt as much as I had built up in my mind. All I feel is the inital punture.....much like when you get blood drawn. I am a little sore a couple of hours later and the next day so I'm sitting on a heating pad off and on through out the day and that seems to help...the pain goes away before I'm ready for the next shot in on that side! You CAN do this....we will all be thinking of you and sending you good vibes! Jessica

Thank you very much all for your replies you encouraged me very much. But i have one day relieve the nurse said i will start only tomorrow lol one day more to go crazy in my head lol.
