Good RE in Chicago?

0 Recommendations

Hi! I am new here. I just moved from LA to Chicago. I had a wonderful RE in LA. The whole staff was supportive and the RE even gave me his cell number the night before my laporoscopy.... my 2nd IUI worked but resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. I am having the hardest time researching clinics here in Chicago. I find one that sounds good but then read mixed reviews about the dr. and then get all confused! Any advice please? (Right now I am kind of leaning toward Advanced Fertility in Gurnee just because of the high success rate)

I live in LA, but based on internet research and the quality of the website, I really like Advanced Fertility. Their website has been hugely helpful to me over the past two years as I've been going through this journey. And, they do have success rates that are really high!

I go to SCRC in Beverly Hills and LOVE it. But, I always thought that if I moved to Chi-town (which I would love to do!) I would go with Advanced Fertility.

Congrats on getting out of the miserable traffic of LA :).

If you live in the city try this doctor - Dr. Randy Morris. website - www.ivf1.com

We just switched to him and I have never experience a more thorough doctors office. They have been monitoring my blood every 2 days to check my levels since my E2 was really high on day 3 of my cycle.

Hi, I'm in Chicago and can offer some information from both where I went and where friends have gone. Please feel free to PM me and I'll give you the info.

I would highly recommend the Fertility Centers of IL. I use their River North facility in the city. They have a ton of sites around the Chicago area so you should find one that would be reasonable distance for you. I see Dr. Kaplan and I feel very comfortable with him. Good luck!

I'm with the Advanced Fertility Center of Gurnee. I'm also biased. They were close to home. I went with them without knowing that I would need IVF. They were great to me and DH. I've had no issues/concerns with them. Their staff was wonderful and they treated us so well. I had no idea about stats and success rates when I went with them. We now have DS and I'm currently 24w5d pregnant. I highly recommend them because they were able to help me get the family that we so wanted. I will be forever grateful to the doctors and the staff there. If you want additional information I have no problem sharing info. Good luck with your decision. It is tough when you have so many options, but luckily for me I lucked out not knowing what I was getting into.

I also go to Dr. Morris. He has an office in Naperville and in the city.

Good luck!

We interviewed a bunch of doctors in Chicago, chose one but then switched to another. Please send me a message and I can respond with our whole story. I too was interested in Advanced Fertility when doing our research on clinics. We did a phone consult because we are in Chicago (Gurnee is pretty far for us) and they told us that they would not take us due to a high FSH. That is how they keep their ART numbers high. Would love to share our experiences thus far.

Julieta1623-
I was wondering what is considered a high FSH level? I am 27 years old and have a FSH level of 8. My RE said that she wasnt too concerned with it at this time. Should I be concerned?

Stay away from Northwestern Memorial Hospital and University of Chicago's infertility programs. Total waste of time. They do not seem to customize protocols for each patient. At Northwestern, I should have known not to go there when it took them 3 weeks to return my first phone call. Dr. Randall Barnes (Northwestern) and Dr. Cohen (University of Chicago) are more interested in ther statistics than helping women become pregnant. I actually started traveling to NYC for treatment. It also happens to be a fraction of the cost of treatment here in Chicago. I go to FCI (River North) for monitoring.

Muskateer, I am about to start first IVF at Northwestern (different doctor then you had), but would like any advise you have on going to them. We researched going to FCI first, but felt like it was way too big. Where are you going in NYC? Can you recommend your doctor in NYC? Did you also look at CCRM since you were going out of town? Feel free to message me back rather than going through the discussion boards. Thanks.

I would go with Advanced Fertility since they have a high rate. They are in Gurnee though so it hard to commute from chicago area to Gurnee. I chose Dr.Rinehart in Evanston. His clinic is close to my work. His success rate is 51.8 which is 5 point less than Advanced Fertility. Their success rate is 56.1. you can check the rates on http://fertilitysuccessrates.com/report/Illinois/

Good luck

Would anyone be interested in infertillity support group? We all seem like from chicago area and I heard support group meetings help women who go thru the treatments.

I've been going to Northwestern for treatment. Was kind of lukewarm about them when going through IUIs last year. Since starting our first IVF cycle recently, I feel like they are extremely organized and I've been having a very positive experience there.

julieta1623, how have you been liking them so far?

I went to Northwestern for IUI which ended up being unsuccessful. The doctor was a little impersonal but the nurses were fantastic. My only complaint has to be that we were scheduled to start IVF and backed out because I couldn't handle it emotionally at the time. It's now been a two year break from any treatment and we want to try IVF. I'm thinking of returning to Northwestern.

Sjstray - how has it been going?

I started at FCI in OakBrook and was really offended by their style--it felt like such a business an I felt like they were not respecting my desire to start things more natural. Anyway, I've been going to Dr Scoccia at UIC. They respect my speed and fear of drugs, but I still have not gotten pregnant. I just had iui #5 using folistim. They're really nice, but sometimes you have to wait. A friend of mine had a great experience with a female doctor at Rush--can't remember her name, but I guess many people really like her, and apparently she herself also had to do IVF, so she is very passionate.

I would say also Dr. R. Moriss. My first IVF with him and I am pregnat with twins (just 6 weeks). I had failed IUI and two IVFs with first RE.

I finally decided on Dr. Klipstein with invia fertility. She seems really great. Personable and caring. I am starting meds for IVF on monday so hopefully it goes good!

I'm working with Dr. Kaplan at FCI as well as the woman above. I moved from a local clinic in Iowa City and travel to see this doc. I am really pleased with him, his staff and their service. Only good and positive experiences from me. He came recommended to me from our egg donor agency, Conceiveabilites. They are also very good to work with. Best of luck!

I've had a great experience so far with Dr. Reinhart in Evanston. It's a small clinic, but the staff is very professional and very friendly. However, the clinic is only open until 4 so if you have inflexible work hours you might look at a bigger clinic like FCI (that's where my obgyn originally referred me) Good Luck!
