Biopsy Opinions pls

Hi,
I'm new to this group and am hoping for some advice. Last Friday our first IVF cycle was cancelled due to me being a poor responder to a fairly aggressive protocol. I am 42 so I knew we may have problems and we have already talked about moving on to donor egg. I was hoping to have a few weeks drug free and to try not to think about it all, perhaps take a vacation, we are both feeling pretty low. My RE has suggested we do an endometrial biopsy next week to check for receptivity, which means I have to continue with a bunch of meds. Is this standard for the donor egg route? I have read in a lot of places that it is a really painful procedure and I don't really want to have it done unless it's necessary.
Thanks in advance x
