Best source for the injectable drugs?

0 Recommendations

Does anyone have a good (safe, legal, reliable) source for the injectables? I will be needing Menopur, Lupron, and Ovidrel in this upcoming cycle and I just found out how much they cost---yikes! When I was on Clomid and Ovidrel, I found the prices varied between pharmacies as much as 50%. But these drugs seem much harder to find (as in, not at Wal-Mart or CVS), so the competition doesn't seem to drive the prices down as much.

Thanks!

On my 3rd IVF I finally ordered from ivfmeds.com over in Europe. The prices are about 50% of what they are in the US. Just make sure you allow for delivery time. I ordered on Monday and had the Rx in two shipments on Thurs/Friday.

In the US, I used www.freedomdrug.com

Good luck!

That's a significant savings! For ivfmeds.com, was there some way that you were able to validate the authenticity of the meds, being that (I guess) they don't come under FDA jurisdiction? I have the luxury of a little lead time for delivery at this point, as I won't start any of these until the 19th at the earliest. I've looked into doing IVF in Europe as the whole process is so much cheaper there. Maybe I could at least benefit from the cost savings on these drugs (no passport and jet-lag required!).

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

Check back through old posts, there is a huge list by med and cost and pharmacy posted. I used mandells.
Good luck!

I use Freedom Pharmacy here in the US for gonal F.

I took a leap of faith when I ordered from IVF meds, but all my drugs were great and I actually got a BFP on this cycle. A few things to note, they don't send any needles or syringes since they won't pass customs. Luckily I had a supply leftover from Caremark and just got a few extra needles from my RE. There is also an $89 shipping fee that makes up for itself in the other savings.

Their sterile water is in glass containers which is a little weird but my nurse showed me how to use them. I also had a bunch of water leftover from other cycles so I used that sometimes. Your RE probably won't send your Rx over there directly. I just got my Rx's, scanned them to my computer and uploaded them directly to the website. It is super easy! Plus, when you call over there, it's a real person answering the phone and they even remember who you are.

Good luck!

Lisa,

Congrats on the BFP! That's encouraging. I'm sending you "sticky wishes"!

Professional Pharmacy in Baltimore has free shipping (on orders over a certain amount). I used them for my IVF - for everything needed. They are very nice and fast in turn around. Good luck!

Chris,
I just noticed your location in your profile. If you don't already know about them, you should look at Rosemont Pharmacy in Bryn Mawr. It's a fertility specialist pharmacy. They're not cheap, but they're certainly way cheaper than places like CVS and they are fully stocked with everything. They will ship overnight to your door also and won't mess up handling like some of those others might (refrigerated, etc). They're very nice people too and very knowledgeable about the drugs if you have questions. The store is run by a family touched multiple times by IF. Good luck!

Thanks, Christina! They are indeed right up the street from me. However, they haven't returned either of my phone calls so I'm giving up on them.

In the meantime, after extensive price searching, I found a program which turns out to be cheaper (by far) than anyone else. It's the CVS/Caremark Fertility Managed Plan. The Menopur is only $50.90 per dose, which is $8 cheaper than the next cheapest (Schraft's) and a full $20 -$25 cheaper than many of the pharmacies that I called. It's amazing what a little calling around will do.

Anyway, here's the information for the CVS Plan:
https://www.caremark.com/wps/portal/FAQS_CUSTOMER_CARE?cms=CMS-2-032439&WT. mc_id=FER-FERTBANN-001 or call 1-888-826-5632 or email fertility@caremark.com. I notice this option wasn't in any of the old posts I found on this subject, so I thought I'd share this info her.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions and help!

Chris

I also used IVFmeds.com for my menopur and hcg. I want to say that the menopur was something like $30 per amp. It was way cheaper than any pharmacy I could find and I've always had a good experience with them (I had 5 injectible cycles). I plan on using them for my IVF cycles too.

I recently did some extensive research for pharmacies (specifically looking for costs of Follistim and Ovidrel). I can tell you that Freedom (freedomdrug.com) has the lowest price for Ovidrel at $44.25. Let me know if you'd like the contact information for the various pharmacies that I spoke with.

I'm med shopping right now, so I thought I'd revive this old post to share the best prices I've come up with on meds. For the most part Mandell's had the best prices on almost everything. Hope this helps! I'd love to hear if anyone has found better prices at another pharmacy.

Lupron: Mandell's has the 2-week kit for $97.50 with a $10 fee to join. If you buy Menopur also the $10 fee gets you into both programs. Mandell's has the cheapest price on Menopur, so its worth it to join here. Schraft's has the 2-week kit for $99, they say, with no fee to join. Freedom was $129, Apothecary was $165. Side note: my insurance ended up covering Lupron, even though they don't cover anything!

Follistim: Mandell's had the best prices. 300IUs for $238, 600 for $476 and 900 for $714. Schraft's started at $249 and Apothecary started at $247, but Freedom started at $403 (!). Freedom has better prices on Gonal-F.

Menopur: Mandell's and Schrafts are both $58.90/vial with a $10 fee to join. Freedom was $72 and Apothecary was $60.49 + $10 fee to join.

HCG: I didn't ask if this was generic or not, but Apothecary gave me the best price of $38. Mandell's was $41.99 if you join their Lupron/Menopur program for $10.

PIO (sesame oil): Mandell's $34.50, Freedom $35.90, Scraft's $35, Apothecary $40.

Hi I just started taking lupron 11.25. In illinois it runs about 2500. I ordered mine from Canadapharmacy.com It cost 800 there. It was so worth it. I will be ordering again in about a month. Dont pay for the tracking its pointless they couldnt ever get it to work. they refunded my money for that. I did alot of research before ordering from them. One thing i really liked was everytime i called day or night 7 days a week some one answered immidiatley.

Good luck

I have my original chart version of the narrative re-posted in curlycue's post. If you contact me off-list, I can send it to you.

Bottom line, Freedom for Gonal-f and Schraft's or Mandell's for everything else.

Also, the info is posted originally in the Research topic, if I remember correctly.

I found the best prices at Rosemont Pharmacy. I needed Folistim and menopure. I called Freedom (most expensive!!!!), Schrafts (on hold for a while), Mandells (whoever answered was rude and couldn't answer my questions w/o putting me on hold and obviously asking someone else) and Roemont and Rosemont Pharmacy was the least expensive on both. they have free shipping and are open late during the week and are also there on sat and sun. Their pharmacists are available for questions 24/7! i called late on a monday and recieved my package early tuesday morning. No hassles!

Danielle the fertility coordinator was absolutely great. Their pharmacy phone number is 610.525.0927. I highly recommend them.

i order from Schrafft's, a discount delivery pharmacy. i've had a great experience.
