Hi all,

Anyone use Dr. Nicole Noyes at NYU, Dr. Tortoriello or Dr. Sher (Sher Institutes NYC & NV) for egg or embryo freezing or IVF? Or anyone use those facilities?

Thanks and best of luck to all!

I am a big fan of the university based clinics and I've have heard great things about Dr. Noyes (in fact I had a consult set up with her but ended up not needing it). I am not a huge fan of SIRM and their philosophy because Sher uses scared tactics and told me I would never have a baby if I didn't do what he was suggesting which was an experimental (and expensive) treatment. He did the same thing in consults with two other women on these boards and all 3 of us ended up with babies without his treatment plan. I am very wary of them now.

Hi! which doctor told you that? I want a place where I am very comfortable and good environment---its an important decision and the place matters and staff too!

Sher was the one that told me those things. I went with Cornell in the end but NYU was also on my list. I just could get in sooner at Cornell. Noyes seems to be rather popular!

Thanks for your information! I did call Dr. Noyes and they said months of a wait...being 42 not sure how much of a wait...what were they telling you for her waiting list?

good luck to you!

They told me months too! What about Grifo. He was on doctor radio talking about freezing. He might be busier but I think that NYU is worth the shot if you ask me.

Did you deal with them at all? wondering how the staff is...and is the facility nice or not?

Hi I went to SIRM after many failed cycles in RI. I did IVF and now have a 3.5 yo daughter. I really liked SIRM. They were organized and knowledgeable. I did
not do anything experimental. There are now alternatives to IVIG that are much less expensive.

For me it wasn't just the expense. It was the tone. He told me it would be my fault and I would never have a baby without it and that I would have miscarriages. I felt like I was being pressured and blamed into something that was not even proven and in the end not needed and I wasn't the only one here. I imagine there may be women who need it but to have seen it happen not once but three times has me suspicious.

Nepsi, may I ask who you saw at Cornell? And how long the wait was to get in? And did you have to repeat any of the workup (such as CCRM seems to require)? Thanks!

I used Noyes. I liked her a lot. I did not get pg, but she removed scar tissue for me and an excellent surgeon. I had no pain. She also spent a lot of time with DH and I answering questions and was very supportive of my decision to stop treatments and adopt. I would recommend her. The big clinic she is associated with, I found to be a factory mentality and at times insensitive. Although convenient when u r working. Good luck

I used Dr. Tortoriello and now have a three month old son. The staff and Dr. at Sher were wonderful. I had used both RMA and Columbia before. Yes, I was tested for immunity issues and Dr. T had me undergo intralipid infusions-but I had two IVFs at Columbia and neither of them took. I can't say that the intralipid infusions were responsible, but I had more follicles, more eggs, and felt more relaxed with Dr. T and Sher. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Good luck.

Hi. Another way to get in to NYU is to use a satellite office. I went to Dr Moomjy and loved her. All ERs and ETs were done at NYU by Grifo, Noyes et al. You may be able to get an appt with her faster. Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for the information! How was Dr. Noyes bedside manner? The ladies I spoke to on the phone seemed professional thus far...but the comment about the factory mentality---is that NYU or the nurses etc? Being out of town will be a challenge too. Is it near hotels etc?

did you do her 2 hour prep course? I guess I'd have to go down to NYC for that and the egg retrieval and can do the other testing here.

I just want the best surgeon/doctor and a nice environment...Shouldn't be too much to ask but seems like it is a challenge...Wow! :)

Dont know where you are coming from. Cornell has a satellite office in Mt. Kisco NY. Dr. Schoyer is the Dr. I used although see will be out Oct & Nov. She is very compassionate. I will do IVF #3 in Oct there for baby #2 at 42. 1st at 41.

Congrats! I am in upstate NY...

Lifeline6. When you use a satellite all of your ultrasounds and bloods are done in that office. So I had very good care and saw my dr, dr moomjy each visit with the exception of one or two times when she was out. The only time I met or saw any of the drs at nyu was when I went in for er or et and since I was on anesthesia for both procedures I didn't really care abou bedside manner. Dr moomjy's manner was more important to me since I saw her nearly every day during my cycles. However I always had a good experience with the drs I did have perform my er and ets and I did have noyes a couple of times and liked her very much. If you are looking for a more intimate setting that is not like a factory yet has the power of a big university behind it then moomjy is great. Go to the nyu website and you will see the other satellite offices they have. I believe there is one in jersey too but moomjys office is on E77th bet park and madison in nyc.

Hi Shoregirl! :)
Thanks for all your info and feedback! I am in upstate NY so will have to fly or have a long drive to NYC ...so will check out the other offices (satelitte ones) but will probably have to go to the city area to be affiliated with NYU ...Sounds like your Dr. and Dr. Noyes are good choices. Any other tips I should know?

We used Sher in NV and I am 22 weeks with twins. LOVE them...experience and great bedside manner and office staff. Will go back again!

What is your situation? I am 42 and looking for egg or embryo freezing...did you have to try multiple times? Are you from there? thanks! congrats!

I have a chromosomal abnormality and required PGD in order to implant embroys that would not miscarry. I am 36, worked on the 2nd round. I have one frozen, and truly believe in the protocol they used which created excellent embies...and KNOW the frosty will work ;)

I am in Vegas, and had a BAD experience with another doc before this.

Good luck to you!
