Accupuncture before and during IVF treatments

0 Recommendations

I just wanted some advice on the use of accupuncture before and during IVF treatments. Does anyone have any success/non-sucessful stories while using accupuncture? How many times before the treatment and during the treatment did you use? My insurance doesn't cover for accupuncture and it is around $35 per visit. I am just wondering how much of a benefit this would provide.

Lupron Clomid Acupuncture Pregnancy Stress

Hello!
I have had acupuncture on and off for the last 3 years. I usually go 2x a week when I go.The purpose was for fertility but the acupuncturist did not specialize in fertility.....but is aware of where to put the needles for fertility:) I really do love how relaxed I feel after a treatment and would highly recommend trying it!
My insurance covers acupuncture but not fertility! $35 is a great cash price for tx as here it can easily cost $70-100 per visit!.......or more!

Good luck!

$35 is GREAT!!!! I pay $60.

I started the month before our first IVF (the month that I started lupron) and did it once a week up till the week of ER. That week I ended up doing 3 treatments because I had my regular one and then one the day before and the day of ET.

I'm not sure if it is what made the cycle work or not, but I figured I was gonna give it a try for at least one cycle. (I had also used it for our last to IUIs with no luck so who knows).

Good Luck
Katie

I think it depends. I used acupuncture all during natural, Clomid and IUI cycles and all were BFN. I work full time, so it was almost more stressful trying to figure out when I could go to all these appointments. I ditched it for IVF and we were successful the first try! I'm not sure if it made any difference thought as IVF is just a better procedure than the others that I'd done.

Good luck!

there's a study that shows an increase in pregnancy if you do IVF pre and post. It's recommended to do it within 24 hours before and after. I did mine the night before my ET and a few hours after. so far so good:). and 35$$ is a bargain! mine's 75 each time. good luck

Geeze, I paid $85 for my sessions!!! MENTS - I did miscarry but I did manage to get pregnant. I went 2x a week and the acupuncturist for $300 came to the office and did if before and after the egg transfer. It's supposed to increase the blood flow to the uterus and relax you.

I am doing it now and started going about a month ago. Im also using it for migrains.....it has worked so far for the headaches so im hoping it will for my IVF. I am stimming now and should have RE & ET next week. Ill find out then when she want me to come in.

I didnt know they did them the day before & after like the other girls said. If anything else, i do feel very relaxed.

I used acupuncture for this IVF and I highly recommend it. It was so relaxing and I really think it helped!! I went 1x/week starting 2 months before my cycle and then I went the day before retrieval and before and after transfer.
If nothing else, it has helped me to stay positive and relax!!!
Good luck

Yes, my acupuncturist said she wanted to become familiar with my cycles, so they want to see you at least once per week for a few months before your IVF. NIH has done studies which show increased success of IVF accompanied by acupuncture. It is good to find someone who has been trained in acupuncture for IF, from a knowledge as well as philosophy standpoint. It can be torture to have to listen to them tell you western medicine doesn't work, you just need to relax and trust in the universe!

And your price is great! I was paying $80, now she's reduced it to $70 as her contribution towards stimulating the economy... And have consulted with others who were charging $135 per visit.

MENTS - I did acupuncture for both of the IVF cycles that we did. The first IVF cycle, I did it for about a week beforehand and then after my BFP started doing it again. The reason why I started again was because I had a really low beta. Unfortunately, I miscarried. For my 2nd IVF cycle, I started maybe about a month before my cycle started and continued after I got my BFP pretty much every week up until the start of my second trimester. That cycle resulted in my DD who is now 2. I paid about $80 per session. If I have to do IVF again I would definitely consider it.

I went to see my acupuncturists at least twice a week during my last IVF cycle. This was the first time I started seeing one and it has been my only successful pregnancy. I have done a total of 6 IVF cycles, 4 that resulted in pregnancy and only one that resulted in my baby girl, although I did get pregnant with twins this last time, only the one made it. I am going to try again in the spring and have all ready started thinking about when I should start back with acupuncture. This last time I started about a week before I started on meds and then continued to go twice a week until I knew I was pregnant and not miscarrying and then started going once a week through the first trimester and then once a month until my 10th month, when my acupuncturist had her baby. For sure it is worth a try. I also got therapeutic massages once a month. All of it I did to help relieve stress and just relax. Which I think is so important during these stressful times.

I started accupuncture (1x a week as my acupunturist suggested) with my 2nd IVF procedure almost 2 years ago. That first IVF was a BFN. I subsequently had a chemical pregnancy (had been doing acupunture faithfuly for 9 months). 2 more cycles while doing acupuncture for more than a year were both BFN.

I think if it helps you with stress or makes you feel better in anyway, you should do it if you can afford it. I can't say it's made a difference for me...

Best of luck.
