Cisplatin/Gemzar and side effects ?? Update 07/29/09!!!

Can anyone let me know what you know about Cisplatin/Gemzar chemo treatment, my daughters new doctor recommends she should start with this chemo?? Any suggestions, please let me know!!!

PS.Seka came home lest night after spending 10 days in the hospital , it was a tuff time, it is great to have her home, only thing is she is not out of the battle yet with this cancer, they found new spot on her liver and her stomach, She did start with new chemo Cisplatin/Gemzar and I am hoping for the best, however I talked to her Doctor and his prognoses for her surviving this are not so encouraging.
I am sorry to be talking about this but I just need to let you all know. My mind is constantly going what can we do? She is too advanced for any clinical trial and new Doctor is very supportive and is trying so hard. He told me I can’t promise I will save her life but we have to fight and try to find something to help her. Seka's mom, Rada

She was in a lot of pain today , and could not eat again, doctors are still trying to figure out about when to do the surgery. I have very tuff time to see her in all the pain plus she lost so much weight, she is constantly tired and sleeps a lot. She is so worn-out and her mood changes all the time. Most times she can’t even talk… I am so worried...

In the hospital again, tomorrow she is having one more surgery that would be a number 6 in last 10 months . They have to replace stent in her liver, it is not working correctly, (or at all) she is not able to eat or drink again, it makes her nauseas and she vomits as soon as she put something in her mouth, also she is very tired all the time…I don’t know how much longer her body can take all this, I don’t think she is even 100 pounds at 5”4’ ( her normal is 135) I need some good news soon….
