Im 25 y/o female 5'2" and weight 132lbs. I've always had lots of energy but there are times when im really really tired for months. I just went to the MD and she said my thyroid isnt functioning at full capacity. So now i started taking levoxyl ( thyroid hormone). Its been 2 weeks and i dont feel better yet. Im trying to exercise alot. i usually go to the gym 6 days a week. I do 45 - hour of cardio. I eat pretty healthy. The only bad thing is... i smoke.

I also have been diagnosed with an adenal gland d/o where my adrenal glands dont function properly. When i was younger i had to take dexamethasone. I took this corticosteroid becasue my bones were groing to fast. I havnt had a problem in years. But now with my thyroid acting up... im wondering if theres a problem. Does anyone know anyone or anything about this?

Is there anyone out there who has the same condition as i do?

I too was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was put on Armour Thyroid which is derived from porcine (yup, pigs!) thyroid. Interestingly, I learned that pigs have a very similar endocrine system to humans.

I've only been taking it for a week so I don't feel like I can tell a difference just yet but I also sprained my ankle and have been unable to really work out as I normally would.

I don't know anything about the adrenal gland issue you mention but I certainly know where you are coming from with the thyroid!!! I am just relieved that it was finally diagnosed the "you're lazy" jokes were getting old!

Beth,

Isnt it a relief to know we have hypothyroid! Well, its a relief but its not good. I kept tellign myself i was lazy and depressed. I feel much better knowing what's wrong. Im on lithium for my depression and it actually is a thyroid antagonist. !! Im on a very low dose but i swear i started feeling lazy when i started the lithium. O-well who knows.

Anyways what was your TSH t-4 readings?
My TSH was 6.8 and my T-4 was 5.8.

It is a relief! I don't remember what my readings were, I'm bad at that...I probably should have written it down!
