My wife contacted Herpes Simplex Encephalitis 3 1/3 years ago. She is 62. She lost all of her short term memory and a lot of long term memory also. She stayed home for 2 1/2 years and then she got worse and now she is in a care facility. She repeats herself and sometimes get manic behavior, not any physical mania but a lot of verbal, she has been hospitalized twice to regulate her medication. She was on Seriquil (sp) and now is on Geodon. My life has totally changed forever. The woman I married is gone. I don't know where to start again, I'm 66. I get little support from her family, I'm not looking for financial support but moral support for her. What do I do now with my life? It seems as though I have few or no options. I never wanted to live alone. How can I get past this and get on with my life?
