My daughter is getting better!

I was a scaredmum not that long ago. I wrote on here searching for some help and understanding of encephalitis. I had never heard of this illness before until my daughter was struck down with it. Today I am still scared but with different fears. I am pleased to say that my beautiful girl Lydia has come so far from where she was at. It was back in May she was admitted to hospital for a month after collapsing at home with a seizure. Then the nightmare began! It has been a hard road to get where we are but today we went to the neurologist visit and he is welcoming the idea of weaning her off her seizure medication! We have had no seizures for about three months now and she is so much stronger each day. Lydia's memory has been effected but it is nowhere as bad as it was back in May/June/July. I am just so happy to post this as I want other people that are going through this to hear that there is light at the end of this black hole! We were told by many that they did not know if Lydia would recover fully or if at all. All we seemed to hear is doom and gloom. The doctors kept saying it would just take time to see how she goes. Don't get me wrong, they were wonderful and helped us so much. As they said though, encephalitis recovery is an individual thing and no-one can predict the outcome of each patient. We could only hope for the best and so that is what we did. Today we still have a long way to go but I know now that my daughter Lydia will regain her life and her studies and she will forfill her dreams she had before encephalitis. Don't give up!
