My baby was diagnosed with NMDA Antibodies

That right my baby! He was 20 monthes old when he was addmitted Oct. 12, 2008. He was taken to Rochetser MN. We spent 3 monthes there. He had seisures, involentary movements, right side weakness, and he lost the ability to walk, talk, and sit on his own. He also had trouble swallowing. He had lost so much weight we thought we would loose him before he was diagnosed. They had to put in a G-tube to feed him. He was finally diagnosed after 2 and a half long monthes. It was great yet so scarey being such a rare and unusual diagnosis. They treated him with IVIG and steroids which didn't have much of an affect on him. They then decided to treat him with Rutuxinab which had a great affect on our son. He recived 4 treatments one a week. We saw results right away. The first week he was sitting on his own. The seconed week he was crawling. The third week he was standing up with the aid on furniture as the week went on he was standing on his own. After the last treatment he was walking again. So far no relapse but at times I see him roll his toung and caugh when he takes a drink of a thinner liquid. At times he has restless nights, and temper outbursts. This all concerns me. Last September was the month I first noticed the bazar behaiviour so the next few months are going to be hard for me. I have started a support group on facebook so far I have only had one hit and she led me here. You are all welcome to join and tell your story. It's just another way we can all keep in touch. My son is doing well he is still nonverbal, he said about 8 words befor he became ill. He now says 2 words Ma and Da. He is learning sign language and is doing pretty darn good. the little bugger knows 6 signs, not bad. Please give me your feed back and keep me in the loop.
