Why we Celebrate

2 Recommendations

Michele you just made an excellent point. We have a right to Celebrate!

Things that used to be routine for us and still are for others takes an extraordinary amount of goal setting, planning, follow through, sometimes with failed attempts until victory! No cane! Threaded a needle! Filed paperwork! made a Doctors appointment ! Was able to run! Went grocery shopping.

All of these tasks are major accomplishments, we have each found an alternative way of getting our messages from point A to point B and C and D. Not one of us have given up or we would not be on the site looking for answers, sharing highs and lows, and seeking and giving encouragement.

Okay, how about this?

I was able to give me cat her subcutaneous fluid therapy for the second time! I didn't stab myself or my husband with the needle!

Hee hee.

Okay, I'll try a better one for today.

My headache was a little better today, so I was able to get in the car to actually buy some groceries! It feels so good not to ask everyone to do the shopping for me :-) .

Is that a more appropriate celebration than the cat one? ;-)

Counting sheep both of those are good reasons to celebrate. I get excited over all sorts of things. As far as I'm concerned getting excited over things is a reason to get excited as well.

It's good that you could get groceries that's what I did today, but it's also good that you were able to medicate your cat without getting hurt. I wouldn't be able to do that because I'd feel too worried I'd hurt one of us even when I'm trying to be careful so celebrate both.

getting to sleep at a "normal" time is worthy of celebration!

your doing so wonderful countingsheep and those are definitely good reasons to celebrate. Keep up the good work and keep on celebrating and together we can celebrate together. You have overcome so many hurdles.

Celebrating our accomplishments is a big part of our lives and recovery!

Walking up the steps, doing a load of laundry, going to the grocery store by myself and making a 3 hour drive were all things we didn't think about before becoming ill. These are big whooo moments! I focus now on what I do have instead of what I was before the illness as that is irrelevant.

As you start to regain abilities remember to be careful. My hands started working better and I tried to curl my hair with the curling iron and burned my face. It hurt but I was thrilled I tried. Also, I broke a few dishes when I was able to cook again-- may I suggest plastic.

Each day is a new adventure. When my children were small we celebrated each new development and we should be just as thrilled for our own improvement!
