Memory Encephalitis

Hi, my name is Anne. My husband was diagnosed with viral encephalitis on September 21st of this year. He had been sick for 2 weeks prior, with what we were actually afraid might have been swine flu. We went to the er twice and saw a regular doctor once. We were given no answers just 'maybe its something viral', or 'theres something going around'. On the 21st he had a huge seizure, was taken by ambulance to the er, and admitted that night. He spent a week in the hospital, and has been home now for 3 weeks. He has issues with his memory, like peoples names, and repeats himself alot. He sleeps alot, and is just starting to really eat again, but it is all very frustrating and scary. I found this website while searching for any kind of information about what he has, and I've found reading about what 'real people' experience has been helpful and comforting. Thanks!

Hello and welcome, Anne. Please feel free to ask any question, anytime. We're here to help each other!
