Hi wendy station. I had encephalitis at 5 yrs old. The main thing I remember about it was I had no equilibrium. My mother noticed that I was running from place to place and she wondered why.(that was unusual for me). She told me to stop and stand still. I fell right over. I was running to keep from falling down. I was in the hospital for 2 or 3 weeks. They sent me home and considered me cured. I'm 52 yrs old now and have for years suffered symptoms I believe are related to E. From doing my own research(drs. werent any help) I recognized that I suffer from Barre Lieu syndrome;the symptoms being, constant headaches, chronic sinusitis and sinus infections, swollen lymph nodes and glands, neck pain, dizziness, blurred vision, vertigo, occasional blackouts and fainting spells, and many more as they say on TV. I'm glad to have found this site. I always figured there must be others going through this too. I'd also like to find out if there are medical research studies on the long term effects of childhood E. I do know there's a connection between childhood E and Parkinsons later in life. I've also wondered how I got E in the first place. Thanks. I'm glad to have found this site. There are things I can learn here.Bye for now. Butch
