Neurontin?

0 Recommendations

Has anyone had luck with Neurontin? I think it is finally helping me. I was having swaying in my head constantly when I walked and also numbness in my face, hand and leg and now the numbness is alot better and my swaying is alot better. We shall see, it's only been 2 days. It could just be all the sleep I got this weekend but I sure hope it's not and it is the Neurontin. I'm on a low dose, only 200 right now and I will go up to 300. I've never had seisures.

My confusion increased when I took Neurontin and it did not relieve my constant headache. Sleep has been the best thing for that. I chose to live with the tingling and numbness in order to have clearer thoughts.

I've been on neurontin for about 3 or 4 years. I take 24 mg per day. Initially I experienced some drowsiness and was kind of slow mentally and physically but that's gotten better. On the positive side,it greatly reduced my anxiety and pain and pressure at the base of my skull and neck. I used to have mild seizures ,blackouts and fainting spells which have just about gone away. My anxiety and stress used to be so strong as to render me non- functional in some social, and work stuations. I still experience some symptoms but they've become much more tolerable.

Neurontin is one of my miracle drugs. Unlike most people, it has never made me sleepy or lethargic. I probably have a GABA deficiency, from my response to it.

irishkarin,
We've had people here have had great luck with Neurontin, and some people who have had some really bad experiences over time.

You just have to give it a try -- most importantly, like all these meds, if it makes you feel less than great in the beginning, you may find that after waiting out the early problems, you have a helpful med.

give it a good 60 days and keep your doctor's office apprised of any negatives you are experiencing incase you start experiencing one of the "get off it now" things.

I'd say over the years. 85% of the people on it have given it a thumbs up.

i have been on neurontin for about 5 yrs now and its a high dose800 mg 3 times a day. it took me about 3 wks to get used to it, at first it made me dizzy and sleepy. it does seem to help with the headaches and i have never had seizures.
hope this helps

Thanks for all of the replies! So far so good. The side effects haven't been too bad. A little nauseas but it's not too bad. No where like when I tried Zoloft. And it seems to be helping with the swaying, not all the time but some of the time! Thanks!
