Ingrid is home! She writes...

"Greetings everyone! My surgery went well. I was in the hospital from the 19th through the 23rd and on the 23rd got moved to a rehabilitation hospital. They did great work with me. Now I'm going to get additional physical therapy three times a week for the next few weeks.

I am doing okay but I'm really tired. Have so many emails to catch up with but I don't think it will be today. One at a time. Please give me a day or two to catch my breath.

Hi Everyone! Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and kind wishes. My surgery went well. I was in the hospital for 4 days and then transferred to a rehab facility. Got home on Wednesday. I still have pain; 4-8 on a scale of 1-10 but it gets better everyday. I am walking with a cane, even able to go up and down stairs. Can't sit in one position for very long, nor can I just stand up for a long time but that will get better as I get more flexibility. Going to physical therapy three days a week and I don't go back to work until January.

For those who don't know, I had a car accident back in 1977 and broke my leg in a few places, one being my tibia being squashed into my knee. There was nothing they could do for it back then except keep it flexible so it wouldn't freeze in one position. When they came out with knee replacement surgery I decided I would have it done 'one day'. I waited until I couldn't stand the arthritic pain anymore and got to speak to a few others who have had the surgery. I know I did the right thing.

So, I'm back. I don't have the energy (yet) to be as active here but just wait a week or two! : - )

I've missed all of you a lot!

Ingrid

Ingrid,
I know the rehab is HARD work, but keep at it, and you'll be a champ! Congrats on finally braving the surgery. Glad it's behind you. :-) Welcome home.
