Finally they find out after more than 3 months that my daughter have some problem with antibodies that cause her encephalitis after they send me to the rehab they tell me we have to go back to the hospital to start the plasma exchange treatment . I want to now if any of you have this treatment and how it help?
If you are talking Plasmapheresis, we have had a number of people go through this.
We have had parents here, discuss that this was done to their children.
I personally can't recall any negative experiences being posted.

I have Auto immune E too. I have not had plasma pheresis. Most people I know have started out on prednisone and if that doesn't work for some reason then plasma. I have heard remarkable stories and some people swear by it. But it does wears off and has to be repeated. The treatments that i hear of most for A E. are prednisone then cellcept, IVIG and plasma.
There is one high school girl who came done with A E
She was in a coma and when she awoke she could do nothing for herself. In less than a year she had recovered enough to be in regular hegh school. Her Father says that you can't eventell she was sick. This gives me hope. Children can be incrdibly resilient.
