Good days and bad days normal

Speech therapist concerned that wife did well with speech therapy yesterday but bad today. Is it normal to have good days and bad 5 weeks after being admitted into ICU and week and half after stopping acyclovir?

Its common (with me anyway) that if taxed on one day, to be at a lower functioning level the next.

I'm not talking the ups and downs of depression, I'm talking actual performing levels while feeling fine.

So if your wife was well rested the first time she went in to the hospital and did pretty good, and then, you brought her back the next day and her functioning level was markedly reduced - I would say that's exactly the way it works for many of us.

As soon as you push past a certain point function the following day or two will greatly decline.

The speech person should see this day in and day out and be aware of it.

I know that I can't do too much without crashing & it's taken me awhile to get an idea what the too much sign is. Too much exercise will actually make my brain tired as well. Some days even people who know me can't tell I have damage, but some days I can't control my volume, speed, or what I'm saying & most days I can.

7 months down the line and my husband has days of almost normal then he will have a couple of days when he is all over the place,i have learnt not to be disapponted by this, i agree that the therapist should have taken this to account.
