ENCEPHALITIS

0 Recommendations

I am a 48 yr. old female that suffered with viral encephalitis as a 6 month old. Only recently am I questioning some of my cognitive behaviors as being connected to having had Encephalitis. I have troubles oncentrating, remembering details, understanding or following conversations, movies, books, etc.

There are tests and evaluations that neurologists and neuropsychologists do that can show a pattern of disfunctions that would be in line of having had brain damage from encephalitis. There are also things they go through to rule out other problems.
The things you mention could be o to encephalitis.
They could be do hundreds of other things equally as well.
Really, all those you state can fit not eating right, drinking, not getting enough exercise or sleep or too much sleep or depression or the ors go on and on.
You would need to be checked out by someone who specializes in neuro diseases to find out.
What you should hold on to, is, those things could be signs of other problems, problems that can be treated.
So, don't let this go, get checked out by a professional.
No one here could tell you if any of those things could be traced back to your having had encephalitis - but they could - there's just no way to know without professional evaluation and interpretation.

Just to add:
The things you mention above have to do with attention/distraction.
Too much going on - too much being thought about (depression)(problems)(life) can explain those - not that i'm saying that's the case with you.
I'm just trying to paint the picture that nothing of what you list is a red flag for encephalitis.
The important thing is - there are things - no matter why you have those problems - that a professional in that area can do for you that can help.

What Dannon said is very important, get yourself checked out by a neurologist. An MRI might reveal what brain damage you have, if any.
