Diagnosing Encephalitis

I am surprised at how many times I have heard that diagnosing Encephalitis is so hard. My doctors in rural Thailand diagnosed me right away, saved my life, and took great care of me.

Actually, I think that they are much more experienced in dealing with encephalitis (Japanese encephalitis being the big one) in southeast Asia and the far East.
You were in the right place!

Yes, I think that is the answer. I was in the right place!! Thankfully, health and cost wise. During the initial months of my recovery, one of my Thai friends brought over a soup that is traditionally served when one is recovering from encephalitis.

My friend's daughter who has E was diagnosed within a month. Her doctor was a rural family doctor so he knew that she just had a chicken pox shot. My doctors didn't diagnose me for awhile because people my age don't usually get my E.

I'm glad you got good care.

Encephalitis soup? Oh, jesslaw, I'd love to have the recipe for that one! I'll bet it contains nutritious ingredients, to help the body as it heals and repairs.

I'll bet it contains green curry!

I'm 26 and once I was admitted to hospital (with signs of confusion) they had me diagnosed within hours.. My hospital (flinders medical centre in Adelaide) has about 12 cases of e a year apparently.

I think I was difficult to diagnose b/c I was a more 'mild' case - - never got to a coma stage or anything. Despite high fever, confusion, and neurological issues, docs didn't pick it up for me. Sent me home from the ER with Tylenol.

Should have gone to Thailand. LOL.

Hi WendyStation :)

I am going back to my old town for a visit in a few months and I will try to get the recipe for encephalitis soup and share it with you all!
