When dealing with the reality of living with chronic pain in my life, I never consider that some of the food items that I was consuming on a daily bases , could be a contributing factor in causing some of my daily pain. Nightshades plants are known for causing arthritis like pain. Eggplant, peppers (bell peppers, cayenne, chili peppers, paprika), potatoes (not sweet potatoes nor yams), tomatoes. Although they are not actually having an allergic reaction to the food itself, but to Solanine, a slightly toxic substance found in all nightshades plants. It doesn't harm most people, but there are some that do not detoxify Solanine properly ; this is a genetic difference. Those folks get joint pain that may be diagnosed as arthritis, and muscular pain from nightshades. They may need to stay off of these foods for a few weeks or months to clear the Solanine from their system. Tobacco is in the nightshade family, it causes pain in the same way. So if you smoke and are sensitive you are more likely to experience arthritis pain on a daily bases.
On the other hand there are food that relive pain. Omega 3 ( fatty fish), Olive oil, garlic, onions , leeks, cilantro, nuts and seeds. Good news for chocolate lovers the flavinoids in dark chocolate are a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
