Anyone taking Cimzia

0 Recommendations

Hi,

I have been on Remicade for 1 1/2 years. Suddenly I had a flare. My Dr. decided to try Cimzia, and I have had my first injection.

Just want to know if anyone has any advice for me.

I had much success with Remicade before developing drug-induced Lupus. My doctor tried Cimzia after the Lupus was gone. It was completely ineffective from the start. I had three treatments and then the doctor stopped it and -- of course -- the Lupus returned during the last Cimzia treatment.

I believe that the jury is still out on long-term use of any biologic until proven otherwise.

Thanks for your reply. I am sorry to learn of your ineffective results, I was hoping for some good news. I've only had the first injection, so I will give it a try. Don't know what to do next, have tried everything, except surgery.

I was put on Cimzia 1 month ago as a result of a major flare with no relief. I've had a total of 2 injections so far and getting my 3rd one tomorrow. I have to say that there was a huge change for the better right after the 1st injection. My energy level went up, but was still sluggish and each day the sluggish improved. The running to the bathroom slowed down each day that went by. I also gained 8lbs back of the 37 I lost in a month. 2nd injection was 2 weeks ago and again over all condition is improving faster than I expected. I gained another 3 pounds and have a ton of energy. Normal bowels after the 3rd week of first injection.
Let me mention that I'm also taking Colazol, 10mg prednisone and lomitil. I have reduced the prednisone from 30mg to 10mg since the start of the treatment and will be off this horrible animal in a week. This has not changed anything.
Hope this helps and your treatment is successful.

Thanks for the update on your use of Cimzia. I take my 3rd injection next week. So far I really cannot tell that it has helped, certainly not as much as I hoped, but I have noticed my energy level is up some. I still take lomotil when needed but haven't had that wondeful, horrible prednisone for several months. I don't know what Colazol is. Good luck with your treatment, let me know how you get along, and thanks for writing.

Hi I noticed you started your cimzia in July. How is it working for you? I'm a long time Crohn's patient. I have been on Remicade Pentasa and Prednisone since 05' and numerous other meds since 97' Recently Remicade just stopped working. They're starting me on Cimzia in a few weeks as well as methotrexate. I'm just searching for peoples experiences? Thanks in advance Stacey

I have been on all the meds you mentioned. So far the Cimzia is helping. My Dr. decided I should not inject both vials at the same time, but space them out to 1 injcection every two weeks. This does seem to keep my levels more even and I think it is helping.

Good luck to you with your treatment.

Thanks so much I'm going to ask about the spacing out. Sounds like a good precaution to take any way.. One med at a time lol Good luck to you also:]
