Intestinal upset

0 Recommendations

Has anyone out there had problems in their intestinal track due to disease? I was just diagnosed with UCTD 2 months ago after suffering for 10 years and everyone thinking I was insane, or just the sickest person on the planet. I am going in for a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy with multiple biopseys on the 15th. I have had chronic diahreah for over 4 years and turns out I have malabsorption on top of it. I am shed weight like a freak of nature, sounds nice, but when you feel like you have 0 energy and are withering away it's not so good. Any help or advise as to what might be happening, or if it happened to you would be a huge help.

Thank you

I don't really understand the connection but my son has also had these problems. He will either have diahhrea or constipation. He also has internal hemmorhoids due to the constipation, I guess. He has had upper GI scans, stomach scans etc. Nothing showed any problem, however, he still has issues along with intermittent pain. His GI doc has put him on medication for GERD and also for IBS. Good Luck

GI problems are pretty awful. I suffered for quite a while till 3 things were figured out. The first one was that I was lactose intolerant. (that can be easily tested for) Two, due to my high metabolism, I had difficulty putting on the weight and overloading my body with weight gain products made my symptoms worse. Three, I learned that my connective tissue was part of the problem and I learned to watch my diet and put less pressure on my digestive system.

Changing your diet can definitely help. Certain foods may be causing further problems for your digestion. Processed sugars, etc.

Hi Jon,
I was diagnosed with UCTD in April. I have a host of symptoms but have a specific question regarding your GI symptoms and diet. Seems like every month or so I have a bloated, growling stomach with lower intestinal discomfort and slight nausea. I also have no appetite. It feels like a UTI but urine always comes back negative. Have you been following a gluten/wheat free diet? Do you have symptoms like this? What specifically helped you in terms of nutrition?

Thanks very much,
-J

I also suffered with the bloated stomache for years. I was prescribed Protonix by my gastro doctor and it has helped out greatly. I hardly ever get the bloated stomaches and it took away the gas and pressure.

I had tried other prescription and over the counter medicins but they did not work for me.

You said you have a UCTD, were you genetically tested?

Jon
