Can anyone suggest any really good books to read on language disorders and/or autism/asbergers in dealing with "meltdowns" and social skills? Several people have suggested Carol Gray Social Stories to improve social and behavioral skills. I would appreciate any recommendations. My little boy was diagnosed with MERLD at age 5, but because of his lack of meaningful conversation skills and his "meltdowns/tantrums" we also have concerns about autism/asbergers.

The absolute most helpful language books I've seen have been More Than Words by Fern Sussman and a binder book called Teach Me Language (I don't remember the author). My daughter also has MERLD but was originally thought to have autism and I think those books were the most helpful in us learning to adjust our communication to her understanding level. When she was younger her meltdowns would almost always be caused by her having trouble understanding what she was supposed to do and feeling overwhelmed, especially when others didn't realize she didn't understand what was going on, so I think those books were very helpful.
