Here we go again. I will have my second femoral angioplasty/stent performed on Tuesday. Even though I know what to expect for the most part, I am anxious and edgy again.
Since the last one was placed in August. I have been trying to walk as much as possible.
My hope is that with the second one I will be able to do more than 0.5 mile.
Does anyone know why I can walk longer on the treadmill? If I am out on the street doing walking, I get claudication and hip pain right at the 1/2 mile mark and have to rest. Is the treadmill so artificial?
I seem to have high hopes for some relief from this second procedure.
At my last visit with the vascular surgeon ,I was informed that I will never be 100% and to do my best to build up stamina with mild excersise for the time being. I am also concerned about the debilitation fatigue I experience daily.
At this time the PAD is what is being treated...any atheroscerosis elsewhere is not showing up in testing. The cardiac tests turn out fine.
No hypertension, chloresterol within normal range, no diabetes.
Maybe I afraid of the long slow decline that I saw in my older relatives who had PAD.(Peripheral artery disease)
Any encouraging words are welcome.
