Lokomat Therapy ...??

0 Recommendations

Has anyone heard of this therapy? I just read about it on a forum from someone in Europe. Looks very interesting!!

"The Lokomat provides "gait training" by moving the legs in a normal physiological pattern that helps the spinal cord and brain to relearn the walking process; this is referred to as ‘neuroplasticity and functional restoration’. A harness supports the patient's body weight over a sensory assisted treadmill. The patient’s legs and hips are strapped into the Lokomat robotic exoskeleton, which simulates a ‘fluid walking motion’. A computer records precise movement measurements and plots them on a graph, which is displayed in real time on a nearby monitor and allows patients and therapists to track progress. "

check out www.hypermed.com.au, or jump on you tube and search lokomat to see it working.
A kid in Chch has had Lokomat therapy along with HBOT and they reckon it has helped a lot. We're getting it for our daughter soon.

child is gotta be at least 4 yrs old for the pediatric lokomat. I think Theratogs are an option one can think of.

Hi there, Lokomat looks brilliant, we are also looking into the Therasuit, if you google that you can see that work, its amazing we are persuing that as well as stem cell.

Children do not have to be 4 years old to go on the Lokomat at Melbourne. I know children as young as 2.5 who have used it.

Thanks so much for all the help! Looks like it is not yet available in the Kansas City area. My son is 2, so looks like we have two years to try to influence them to get it here !!!

Hi,
I want to do this for my 2.5 yr old. can you give me the contavct details of the melbourne lokomat guys or anyone who's been there.

Thanks
Vaibhav
