Feldenkrais Method

0 Recommendations

Hi,
I have a 3 year old beauitful daughter who was diganosed with Spastic Diplegia C.P when she was 2 years old. We live in Ireland. And there is not much info given to parent about this. I had to find out just about everything myself to help my daughter.
She cannot walk by herself, she uses a kaye walker, which she loves, she really is a star and amazing. Her intelligence is not affected, but her legs are very bend and she has a bad gait. Without her Splints she cannot pull up to standing without using the side of her feet. She has Physio but i dont think its enough, i think she will walk eventually but not with just physio.
I came across Feldenkrais on the internet, and found a women who does it near me. we are going to give it a go.
Does anyone here have an stories about their experience with it, or know about it more than me?
I am greatful for an personal info
thanks to you all

Scoliosis

My son Cole has done the Anat Baniel method (which is based on Feldenkrais). You are suppose to do it in intense sessons...like twice a day for a week. And then take a rest for a couple of weeks. Cole is only 2 and does not sit up (crawl, stand, walk, etc.)but I thought the therapy was really good for helping him learn what his body feels like. It is a movement based therapy, so they do not believe in orthodics, standers, ect., anything that restricts the body or is unnatural for the level you/your child is at. My ABM therapist tended to think the exact opposite of what my son's PT did. And pretty much told us to stop PT altogether. Which we did not. I did not see any miracles for Cole or real break threws, but I think it has helped prevent problems...like future scoliosis. I definately think it is a good form of therapy for movement.

Thanks very much for your info.
