Do I have Gluten Intolerance?

I am 54 years old professional and had stomach issues for last 30+ years. After going through several doctors with a final diagnoses of Irritable BS I gave up. But God bless one friend who is gluten intolerant, advised me to try stopping all gluten foods last December and I did so. I felt amazing. My symptoms went away and I started feeling great in 2 weeks. I had my blood test done 2 months ago which came negative. Also when ever I eat something contaminated with any gluten product I get stomach sick for 1-2 weeks. Do I have truely gluten intolerance problem?

Hi Noniofnj,

If you had stopped consuming gluten in December and had the blood tests for gluten intolerance two months ago, I assume you were still gluten free at the time the blood was drawn. You must have gluten in your system for the blood test to show intolerance.
I encourage you to review the following link:

http://www.celiacdisease.net/testing

"Antibody tests are only accurate when a patient is on a gluten-containing diet. Those concerned about celiac disease are strongly discouraged from starting a gluten-free diet without having had a firm diagnosis. Any change in the diet, even for as little as a month or two, can complicate the diagnostic process."
Wishing you good health,
Marwood

we have CD & some of our family has been biopsied & diagnosed, but not everybody, we all have the genetic marker. You can get the genetic test, but if you feel better GF just stay GF. does a diagnosis really matter?
