I first have to say I am so thankful I don't have to have a Jtube like a lot of people on here. Was supposed to have one placed 3 years ago, but because of blood clotting reasons, I was not a candidate. Thankfuly, I was able to start eating again and stopped the drastic weight loss. I have read how so many GP'ers have feeding tubes, pumps, and don't know what else. I am so sorry for all of you who have to go thru that. I couldn't immagine!
Now for the "mad" part. Was out of work Friday, Saturday almost went to the ER from pain (as bad as some of my kidney stones), hurt Sunday, and then this morning was doubled over in pain at my desk. All from the colonic inertia. GP doing fair with the antinausea meds and liqued diet. But that is not causing this horrible pain. And when I finally called my GI doc, the phone nurse said there was nothing they could do. Just wanted a refill on my levison that I've hardly ever taken (refill expired a year ago). Asked if I needed to come in to see the doc. It was fine, I couldn't handle the spasms. My answer... CLEAR liquid diet and nothing to help with the colon spasms. I work full time, have lots of therapists that work for me, I can't keep missing work. The levison helped in the past, but the nurse would not listen. Had my Ensure for breakfast, but my GP is not the problem. It's the colonic inertia. Said if the pain gets too bad, call them and head to the ER for pain management. Doesn't morphine, demeral, and diladud (sp?) slow the GI system down? Can't afford the ER, especially when I have a doc who is managing this stuff. And does anyone have any clue besides gatoraide (just electrolytes I think) on nutrition on clear liquid diet? Need energy to keep working. And now, no Ensure. Just very frustrated. It's just getting past that phone nurse. This has been a problem with that office since I started going there. But if she finally "lets me in" to see my doc or PA, they ask why I haven't come in before now. Just frustrated. And whining when most of you guys have it so much worse everyday. Any ideas on nutrion thru clear liquid diets? Again, thanks ahead of time for reading this. Finally I have somewhere to go where people know what I'm talking about and have been thru a lot of what I have been. This group is awesome!!! Thank you!
