ICD, LQT, low potassium

1 Recommendation

I'm a SCA survivor, and i'm lucky to be alive again. I fainted, April 23, 2009, the reason i was rushed to the hospital. I was admitted for 12 days, and after a series of tests and investigation, my doctor diagnosed me of LQT sydrome, Adrenal adenoma, Hypokalemia .There's an irregularity on my heart rhythm, my EKG showed a prominent U wave with a long QT of approx. 600m.sec., and my Cardio said i need an ICD, it's a shock to me and my family(it took days for my cardio and nurses to convinced me to have it, they will not dicharge me without an ICD implanted on me, and finally, it was implanted on me May 4, 2009, the next day i'm out of the hospital.)During that time my potassium was just 2.6, and they put me on spironolactone 100mg 2x a day and hypertension meds till now. They found out that i have a bilateral tumours on my adrenal glands, the reason my potassium becomes low. I did a CT scan, i got an allergic reaction with the contrast. My surgeon said she will refer me for AVS, but she's concerned because i have an allergic reaction for dyes. I'm still waiting for the schedule of my surgery for adrenal adenoma. I still live on fear, its been 7 months now that i have this ICD and i'm not comfortable, as if its pinching, poking my skin, i can't even lie on my left side. But im thankful to be alive and for the free medical services here in Canada. Please pray for my next surgery.
