VT and ARVD

0 Recommendations

I have had VT since I was 17 years old. I have been back and forth in hospitals for the last 11 years. Ablation after ablation, medication after medication. Just when things seem to get better another episode knocks me down. I guess what i'm looking for from anyone is last September I had an epicardial ablation done in Philadelphia, PA by Dr. Frank Marchlinski. He deemed it a success and said I should be able to live a normal, active life with no restraints. To be honest the 1st six months where great. I had very very little pvc's and no runs of VT. I truly felt I was on my way. Over the years my exercising has been delayed and weight had built up, so now that I was feeling great I felt I needed to get back to my old selve. Then the walls came down. My heart started having pvc's like crazy. I ended up having VT in MArch and hospitalized. and since then it has been a constent struggle dealing with it. I had another episode while doing laundry. I went to the hospital again. I had a stress test down which didn't induce anything and my echo confirmed my reight ventricle to be enlarged further proving that they are 80% sure I have ARVD instead of just VT. I am currently taking toporol xl, sotolal, lisinprol, potassium, magnesium, rantinidine, water pill, a potassium pill to prevent potassium loss and zyrtec for allegeries. I also have xanax and ambien for sleep issues! He wants me to get tested for the genetics. I just want anyone who has experienced this to let me know what to expect.

Please be careful with the Lisinopril. It caused me a bad chronic cough that I cant get rid of. I am just taking Sotalol and Potassium along with Xanax and Lexapro for anxiety.

Hi,

If you don't already know about it. There is a great support group for ARVD. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and may be able to answer some of your questions.

I'm a Marchlinski patient too, pretty much the same deal except I'm doing well and my genetic tests came back negative for ARVD. I'd be interested in hearing your story in greater detail. Please drop me a line on my blog and I'l give you my email.
