Pocket revision surgery infection

0 Recommendations

I need to find information about my wife's options regarding not replacing her icd. On aug 17, after her last icd had migrated into her breast, she had a pocket revision surgery and a new icd placed. They doctors damaged her pacing lead - so that had to be replaced as well. 2 days after surgery her inscision started weeping and oozing. This was ignored as normal by her doctor and his staff. # weeks later we find out that the inscision never healed properly and that the whole pocket is infected. She is having everything removed on monday and is debating wether or not to even have a new icd implanted, since her icd's have never triggered or even recorded an arrythmia.
Ant info would help thank you

hi i had my second box changed several weeks ago, second week after surgery , i got an infection in mine, was put on antibiotics for a further 3 weeks, that seem to clear infection up, then a week later i discovered near the scar tissue , one of my leads was pertruding out the skin.let my docter have alook ,i was told to clean an dress it every day until my appointment next week until they decide the best route to go for.either all out an start again due to the infection ,because the doctor explained something metal when inside the skin an infection its not always 1oo% to clear up.me also like ur wifes,my defib has never went off,i have the same feelings(just take the lot out an bdone)but its there for a reason ,preventative is better than cure. hope this helps u out alittle.
