Do you have a link for that? I'm kind of curious. I don't know how that would actually work??? With my luck nobody would have change and the machine would be demanding exact coins LOL.

Please "Google".
Automated External Defibrillator/ the Japan Times
on line.(Date April 17 2007).
The article is detailed and incudes a picture of this type of vending machine.
Please read the article. I am interested in your opinion, especialy in view of the poor response from bystanders when tragedy occur.

I think it's a fabulous idea. I read the article and I think it's wonderful. If push came to shove I'm thinking that the kind of person who was unfamiliar with an AED, but saw the immediate need for one and grabbed it anyway, is someone who would be able to figure out how to use it.

I would rather someone make the attempt to save my daughter's life than know that an AED was within reach and people were too scared to try.

I know I'm being rather general about it, but I think with the kind of pressure that's on a person in that situation, if they have the sense of mind to grab it and try, the odds are pretty good that they would be of some help.

The article says that there isn't any money required, it's kept in an unlocked box. I would wonder though if they are maintained to ensure that the batteries are still effective etc.

Still, the pros outweigh any cons in my mind. I think the more people see them the more it will be in their brains. I'm all for them!
