I am a 100% disabled veteran. I left the service long before the Gulf Wars. For the last 7 years I have at Arrhythmia attacks. At least that is what the VA Cardio Clinic told me. A new doctor came in and checked out all of my EKGs and decided yes I have arrhythmia but that I also have heart flutter. He said I needed an area in my heart cauterized. He then told me I need this done as soon as possible. The VA was updating the room where this procedure was to take place. He said he would arrange for the VA to send me to a private hospital. That was 7 weeks ago. I have not heard from the doctor, the clinic, or the VA since then. I went to the Directors Office and told him of my problem. He said he would look into it and get right back to me. That was a week and a half ago.
What you see on TV about the VA hospitals is not quite true. The hospital is clean, the people are polite, and when you get to go to a clinic they seem to care. Follow up visits are impossible to get, and the system works against you.
