Brugada Syndrome

0 Recommendations

My son was diagnosed with Brugada 4 yrs ago when he was 17 years old. He has had an ICD since. Does any one know of any limitations as to careers that he can pursue due to his ICD? We have a family business that is a fishing and whale/dolphin watching business, and today he got a letter that his captain's license was rejected due to Brugada and his ICD. If anyone knows of career ristrictions due to ICDs, please respond.

Hi as far as I know your son should be able to do anything by this time, especially 4 years later. When I had my ICD put in, the dr said to start doing what i normally do. But the best thing you should do is ask how your son feels and then call the Dr to see if it's allright.

hello. i can not attest to Brugada Syndrome, but my mother has had an ICD since 1985, and I can't think of any career restrictions outside of something physical (astronaut, military, professional athlete, etc.). i am oblivious to the requirements that must be met to obtain a captain's license... but since anyone with an ICD can operate a vehicle and recieve a driver's license, i might pursue some sort of re-consideration on your son's behalf to whomever or whichever organization denied him.
