special people Bone marrow transplant Donor's

I was just wondering if anyone had a donor for there children? I would like to tell you about my son's donor.
well my husband and I have three children,but none of us matched my Gordy. my other two children matched each other,but sadly not Gordy. His dad match somewhat but not good enough for a transplant. So we needed a donor after Gordys 2nd relapse. we searched on the national marrow donor program but no one was found. about 2 or 3 years on the search and after Gordys 3rd relapse we were blessed to find a donor(thank you God). our prayer's answered a special lady who had only just a few months earlier joined the donor list. This lady was notified and with out a second thought she agreed to be the donor! She at this time was a very young lady and amazingly she was all for it. I already knew that there was a chance the donor wouldn't agree sadly alot of people that put there name on the list back out as soon as they find out that they are a match for a recipient. See they can back out up till the day of harvest. but usually by then the recipient is already under going total body radiation and massive chemo.
so many things can go wrong and its scary for families. Its amazing to know someone cares enough to give of there own body for some one the don't even know. so Gordy got his transplant and did fairly well even with less than a 50% chance of success after a 3rd relapse. that's what's so amazing because with out our donor Gordy wouldn't of lived. our special donor gave us 5 more years with our son. she thinks she was led to do this because now she is working for the marrow donor program and loves it. I can only say I am so grateful for her and what a wonderful gift she was to our family.Gordy was just amazed that a total stranger would care enough to help him. God works in mysterious ways!
