Since my daughter was diagnosed 2+ years ago with ALL leukemia, I became involved with local efforts to bring awareness and do fund raising for pediatric cancer. I have learned in the process that certain groups give little of the monies they raise to pediatric research, despite splashing kids faces all over their advertising. Candlelighters is a wonderful group. They have an active parent group at our hospital but sadly, we live too far away to attend meetings. There are 2 other groups that I would suggest for people to check out: CureSearch and People Against Childhood Cancer. CureSearch is made up of parents, physicians and professionals involved in pediatric cancer care and research. It is a wonderful resource as well as a group that is doing incredible work nationwide. Pac2 is made of parents and is a great place for connecting with other parents or finding out about local events. Please check them out:
