Raising Awareness and Funding for Pediatric Cancer

0 Recommendations

Since my daughter was diagnosed 2+ years ago with ALL leukemia, I became involved with local efforts to bring awareness and do fund raising for pediatric cancer. I have learned in the process that certain groups give little of the monies they raise to pediatric research, despite splashing kids faces all over their advertising. Candlelighters is a wonderful group. They have an active parent group at our hospital but sadly, we live too far away to attend meetings. There are 2 other groups that I would suggest for people to check out: CureSearch and People Against Childhood Cancer. CureSearch is made up of parents, physicians and professionals involved in pediatric cancer care and research. It is a wonderful resource as well as a group that is doing incredible work nationwide. Pac2 is made of parents and is a great place for connecting with other parents or finding out about local events. Please check them out:

My daughter was recently diagnosed with ALL. We are looking for support groups for our whole family. Our hospital doesn't have any support groups, so we are looking for something local.
My daughter was diagnosed on 4/3/09 and has responded well so far, but we know the road is long and meeting people to share our journey that understand the process would be great!
Thanks for your suggestions!
