New study for squamous cell nsclc

Good afternoon,
I am starting a new clinical trial tomorrow 6/8/2011 at USC Norris Cancer Center called the study of MLN8237 which has just opened to squamous cell nsclc. The initial trial was for platinum resistant ovarian cancer and had good success. Phase II is now open to Lung, Breast, Head and Neck cancer, specifically squamous cell.
Is anyone on this trial and if so, can you share any side effects.
I will keep my progress posted. 7 days of 2 pills per day and then 7 days off.
Thank you and God Bless!

Hubby is now starting his second time of this pill that you are doing. This week alone he has gained back 5 lbs, which is great, cause he had lost so much. He is also feeling great.
The only side effect so far and this just happened today is that he is losing his hair again. This is three weeks into the clinical , other wise he has had no other side effects. I have noticed that he is not coughing as he use to , he does not have any emisis now. My hubby is getting what he wanted and that was quaility of life , he is doing things and feeling great!! I hope this is going to be the miricle drug..wouldn't that be nice!! Debbie

Hi Debbie661,
Please keep us up to date on his progress if you have the time! I had so much fear prior to starting the trial yesterday, and like you and your husband, I pray and hope for qualify of life. If there is some miracle workings with MLN8237, so many could benefit from it. USC Norris Cancer Center still has 5 openings for the trial.
I feel great after 1 1/2 days and the only thing I have noticed is that I am a bit sleepy, which is awesome, because prior to starting the trial I was waking up 3 to 4 times per night for no apparent reason. Can't wait for the coughing to subside.

Sending prayers and love your way!
