Prostate cancer

0 Recommendations

I have had prostate cancer and I had the surgery to have the prostate removed about seven years ago. I am OK now witha PSA of 0. The surgeon that operated on me was Barry Stien of Providence, RI. He has stopped practicing and I would like to know if anyone can recomend a urologist/ surgeon in the Newport to Providence area.

Typically when doctors retire they either "sell" their practice to another, or offer their patients a list of providers. Perhaps you missed it if he did? Have you looked into what has happened to his files about you, you have a right to have them and provide them to your follow-up doctor.

I cannot recommend anyone in Providence, but am familiar with the team at UMass Medical in Worcester and that's not very far away. I have attended a couple of PCa seminars there and had a pre-treatment second opinion there, and feel they are very solid.
